    By David Goldman
    First paragraph
A search on Wednesday unveiled a new tool that allows people to share links with their friends. This tool is the +1 button, and with this button users will be able to recommend links to their list of contacts. In a blog post Google declared that the +1 button is "digital shorthand for 'this is pretty cool.'" Google also plans to offer the buttons up to third-party websites, as Facebook did with its Like button. FTC said that Google "used deceptive tactics and violated its own privacy promises" when it launched Buzz. Last year, Facebook topped Google for the lead in the number of website referrals, because web users now spend more time on Facebook than Google. For now, however, Google says it is focused on social as a way to power search.

  9. Qatar could create robot clouds to cool World Cup watchers

Qatar University's engineering school have come up with a novel way to cool the stadiums ahead of the 2022 World Cup... giant flying saucers!,. they announced plans to develop giant artificial remotely controlled "clouds" made up of high-tech materials that will be positioned between the blistering sun .
Dr. Saud Ghani, said that the machine would decrese 10 degrees Fahrenheit.. That's a big deal in a country where temperatures in summer regularly soar into triple-digits Fahrenheit -- Ghani says that the design has passed the initial engineering phase and his team plan to make a 4-by-3 meter prototype by the end of this year to test the concept. The finished product would be a rectangle made up of carbon fiber and solar panels the size of a jumbo jet. It would use sophisticated monitoring gear to track the transit of the sun and would use four electric powered engines to maneuver to the precisely the right position to drop a cool shade across the stadiums.
the final price for each unit could be as low as $500,000, Ghani predicted.

  11. Is Rafael Nadal a spent force?
Posted by: CNN Sports Writer, Greg Duke

Rafa Nadal's performances at the ATP World Tour Finals in London have raised serious question marks about the Spaniard's well-being. Nadal began 2009 in superb style, beating Roger Federer to win the Australian Open title, taking him one tournament away from a clean sweep of slams. His displays over the last year had taken the Spaniard to number one in the world rankings and all the locker-room mummerings were about Federer's possible demise and Nadal's increasing superiority. A stunning defeat at the hands of Robin Soderling saw Nadal's seemingly invincible reign as French Open champion come to a crashing end - leaving the way open for Federer to snatch the one title that had always eluded him and take back the No.1 ranking in the process. How had Nadal gone from this unbeatable powerhouse, to looking vulnerable, in the blink of an eye? Well the answer soon became appearent when it was revealed Nadal was suffering from a crippling knee injury that would mean he could not defend his Wimbledon title, an absence that Federer took advantage of to take back his SW19 title in dramatic fashion. Nadal prides himself on his upper body strength. His power and physique is something to behold and made him the player that took the tennis world by storm. But while your upper body can be strengthened permanently, the knee cannot. On faster surfaces, Nadal is now just another player. If he does not perform to his previous imperious clay-court best, following the winter break, maybe he never will. The acid test will be Roland Garros 2010.

Postal office is having a bog deal for losing a prescription of marijuana and not having it back to a glaucoma patient. Elvy Musikka, 71, of Eugene, Oregon, says the post office lost something that could cost her more than just a buzz. She could lose her eyesight. Six metal tins packed with medical marijuana joints are in transit somewhere with her name on it. It's a prescription she receives twice a year to treat her glaucoma. She usually flies back to Miami, her former home, to pick up the pot from her eye specialist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Her attorney, Norman Kent of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, accepted the pot for her and shipped it as next-day delivery through the U.S. Postal Service on March 17. It never arrived at Musikka's Oregon home. He discovered he mislabeled the ZIP code. It was off by one digit and the shipment was sent to the post office in Santa Monica, California, about 850 miles away from Eugene, Oregon. After spending hours on the phone with the postal service, Kent sent a letter to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration on Thursday asking for help.
In the letter, he wrote that he hopes "the DEA recognizes it is not in the public interest to have marijuana missing in the U.S. mails," and adds the need to "make a record of this loss in order to procure a new prescription."
