  5. Kaplan University Student: "I Don't Want To Ever Go Back To College"
    by Carol Scott

    Victoria Castillo, Dallas, Texas
Victoria was a person who had a debt but her student loans wouldn’t pay for that, she was told that she would be personally charged the remaining balance owed, and if it wasn’t paid, her account would be shut down and she would be kicked out of Kaplan.

I enrolled with Kaplan with the understanding that I would incur student loans because I did not have the cash to pay for my classes. Everything was fine, until I fell behind in my school work due to personal reasons I asked my advisers for their advice on dropping a course. They told me, "OK, your class has been dropped. Contact financial aid, thanks." When I contacted financial aid, I got bad news. Even though I dropped my class in the middle of the semester, they told me I owed money for the full semester. If I chose to pay for my education with student loans, this meant that I didn’t have the funds to pay them out of pocket. I feel like this is partially my fault for not researching how to add/drop a course and what the effects would be. I am $10,000 in debt and I started in June 2010 and withdrew in early December. I am an honor student and I work hard for my grades. I’m to the point where I just don’t want to ever go back to college.

  17. The iPad 2 Has Been a Boon to eBay
    By NICK BILTON
The ¡Pad 2 is a success in the world because it has been sold alot. The Apple iPad 2, which is still very difficult to acquire at Apple retail stores, is creating a robust and healthy resale market online. The company said that 65 percent of iPad 2s sold on eBay were purchased by buyers in the United States. In 2010, only 35 percent of sales of the first generation .iPad were sold domestically on the online marketplace. The higher numbers in the United States this time illustrates just how difficult it is to acquire the new tablet through traditional retail stores. Apple stores continually sell out of the new tablet, and the wait to get one purchased online is still five weeks. The most sought-after models of the iPad 2 are on the low and high end. The basic 16-gigabyte Wi-fi-only version and the 64-gigabyte with 3G data connection account for a majority of iPad 2. They also net a healthy profit for sellers.
